Now that spring training has begun, I thought I'd take a moment to share my favorite Barry Bonds uses steroids facts. His body has grown freakishly. Bonds' body parts sizes in his years with the Giants: from size 42 to a size 52 jersey; from size 10 1/2 to size 13 cleats; and from a size 7 1/8 to size 7 1/4 cap, even though he had taken to shaving his head. Men in their mid-thirties to early forties don't increase in the size of their skull or feet. 2 1/2 shoe sizes and the league still has taken no disciplinary action about steriod use for him.

1,500 Miles Makes a Decent Test Drive

It's official, we have a new (used) car. I left Friday morning at 5am to catch my flight to New York & returned home in our Subaru Outback on Sunday at 6pm. I got a nice long test drive back to Arkansas and passed through a total of 10 states (in order: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, & finally Arkansas). You may notice a little repetition in the early going which is due to a couple freeways being closed to snow and I had to change direction a bit. It was a great trip & the car ran fantastic. I didn't get to see anything in NYC except Yankee Stadium, which was still neat. The entire time the weather was below freezing and I repeatedly had to dodge salting trucks on the freeway. I was amazed that there was snow on the ground pretty much the whole way. It wasn't bare ground until I was halfway through Missouri and only 5 hours from Siloam Springs . We are very thankful for our new car & that we were able to get it here without any problems....we had a bad experience once and are relieved to have a good one.

Million Mile Reward

If you just happen to drive a Saab, a lot, they'll give you a new one for free! That's right, drive a million miles and they give you a new one.

It rained all day yesterday. That is the first in a long time here in Arkansas. It was so pleasant, to just walk outside after a meeting and have everything be wet. It's no lie, Carolyn & I both miss the rain.

Spoofee.com is a website that I check on a regular basis for good deals. They compile the best deals & free stuff out there on the web and everyday there are new things that might be useful. So, if you are looking for electronics or just a bargain, Spoofee is a good place to start.

The Wait is Over

Well, we just bought a car. My previous post from a few hours ago is not really relevant anymore. We bought a '98 Subaru Outback with under 100,ooo for $3,000. It's in New York & I'm going to pick it up next weekend.

So, I came got back to our apartment after a day of group interviews for next year's RA team with the intent of buying a car. We found one last night that we liked and thought about it all day. We decided to go for it. I just pulled up eBay and someone had used Buy-it-now 3 minutes ago. Swing and a miss.

Just thought I'd share some thoughts on XLI. Fun game to watch, everyone likes active games even if it is sloppy play. Commercials weren't as good as last year. I think my favorite was the Bud light slapping one, based on the fact that it made me laugh the hardest. Finally, Prince was fantastic. He's a weird artist, but I think he put on a great halftime show. Definitely the best since U2 in '02.

Panera Bread

It's a lovely Saturday afternoon and I'm sitting at my new favorite place grading papers. I'm team teaching a leadership class this semester and am really enjoying it. Carolyn is looking for some clothes, so she dropped me off. Panera Bread is a great place to hang out, free Wi-Fi, refills on soft drinks, and delicious food. I hadn't heard of them before, but there is two locations in the Portland area (Vancouver & Hillsboro-Tacoma has one too). Since NW Arkansas has like no coffee shops, this is a great alternative. I'm just enjoying looking out the window watching the melting snow & reading what students have written about leadership. Have a good weekend!

One More Reason Why I love Portland

Not to minimize the fear that the city of Boston experienced from a PR stunt gone bad, however seeing Porltand's laid back attitude makes me appreciate this city a lot.

This afternoon I enjoyed a game of Ultimate while snow was falling. There was a couple inches on the ground, making it very slippery, however it was a lot of fun. The snow is the most powdery I've ever experienced and doesn't make good snowballs, but you don't get wet when playing in it.
