Driving

This weekend is Fall break here at JBU. I'm helping lead a group of 14 students on an immersion trip to Chicago. We leave in about 4 hours and I still haven't packed. It's about a 10 hour drive and I'll come back home to Carolyn on Tuesday night. Hopefully I'll make it back in time for our final birthing class.

It's official. I feel like the countdown can begin, we're ten weeks away from the big due date! Here's Carolyn after church today.

1st Pick

To quote Greg Rice, "He's injury prone." Greg Oden is out through most of the NBA season with a knee injury (March, maybe whole year). Was it the wrong decision? Personally I don't think it was the wrong pick. Granted I do believe Durant will have an overall more productive career, but you've got to go with the big guy. That's how you win championships in the NBA.

W 46-26

We had a great time at the game last weekend. Razorbacks defeated Troy in front of about 75,000 rabid Hog fans (Qwest Field in Seattle is 68,000). The culture surrounding Arkansas football was amazing. The whole stadium was a sea of red. There are so many cheers and songs that everyone knew, we felt a little conspicuous not knowing them. With no competing state school, no pro sport teams, and being in the football crazy south it isn't a wonder everyone here is a fan. A very impressive feature of the stadium was the video screen. It was and may still be the largest LED screen in the world and has a incredibly clear and crisp picture (it's just over my shoulder in the picture above).

Opening Day - Arkansas Style

Carolyn & I are heading to the University of Arkansas Razorback game tonight. It's the first game of the season and it should be high energy. One tradition that happens every kick off for the U of A is the calling of the Hogs. This entails the entire stadium screaming in unison, "Woo Pig Sooie!" I'm very curious to hear it for myself. This link is the best video I could find of it.
