Summer of 3
Last night Carolyn & I went with a bunch of students to watch Pirates 3. It was better than I thought it would be, although much more violent than the first two. If you go see it, be sure to stick around after the credits for a little extra. Last weekend we saw Spiderman 3, and that was disappointing. I've really enjoyed the Spidey films because there was a surprising amount of depth to them. The current one tries to act like it has depth, but it just isn't there. I'm not going to lie, I'm looking forward to Ocean's 3 but am extremely nervous about Shrek (is there much left for the Shrek world to imitate/mock?).
For some time now I've found myself disgruntled (it reached it's maturity back in the LOR trilogy days) by the poor picture quality in theatres . THX has been the standard in theatres for some time and the quality has only increased, but many cinemas still project grainy poor quality pictures. With the influx of home theatre and HD televisions it seemed like it was better just to watch it at home (not that my home has those things, but it's the principle of getting me in the door). Well, last night I've finally been pleased. The theatre used DLP-digital projection. It was fantastic, finally the picture quality matched the sound quality.
